Meet Diamana, tubolight's new performance mountain bike tyre insert designed to minimise the effects of tyre rebound leaving the tyre in constant pressure with the ground.
tubolight has studied the flow of air molecules within the tyre under compression and rebound during a shock, they discovered this happens so quickly that the tyre casing can be already back to its original shape prior to the bike's suspension compressing leading to inconsistent tyre pressure on the ground, delivering poor traction. They also discovered that higher tyre pressures exacerbated this effect and the reason why lower tyre pressures provide better traction.
Dimana’s dimpled upper surface and wave like shaping in combination with narrowing lateral air channels create a Venturi effect moving air from the larger outer potion to the smaller inner portion closest to the rim bed. A reverse Venturi effect ensures that air is temporarily held in the inner portion of the insert. As a result, this controls / slows the rebound of air within the tyre maintaining more consistent contact with the ground, leading to improved traction.
