Stages GEN3. The New and Improved Stages Power Meters.
Generation 3 of the popular power meters from Stages Cycling have arrived and are available across the full range of left and right only meters and the recently released dual sided Stages L-R Meter.
Since the first-generation Stages Power meters hit the market in 2012 the popular product has undergone functional changes over the years that represent an evolution of Stages Power over time. The second-generation design of the Stages Power Meter offered a change in the plastic housing that covers the unit in order to further evolve the product into one that is slimmer, sleeker, and stronger. With this improvement however, the basic electronics and function of the power meter remained the same. It also used the same firmware and will continue to have the same ongoing firmware updates for improvements, added features, and bug fixes into the future.
Stages Cycling GEN3
With the third iteration of the Stages Power Meter (Stages Power L, Stages Power R, and Stages Power LR), the same sleek housing and robust battery door interface are retained with the power meter featuring slightly re-designed internals and electronics, providing improved accuracy as well as adding an LED indicator light to the housing to show battery life and confirm that the power meter is awake.

GEN3 Stages Power Meters now have updated electronics that offer:
BOOSTED TRANSMISSION
Transmitter is now 6x more powerful than anything before! The increased signal strength of ANT+ and Bluetooth Smart allows for optimal performance with all paired devices, particularly watches.
LED STATUS INDICATOR
Provides information visually without requiring a paired connection to a separate device. LED indicator displays battery level at start up (with no need for connection with an App) and confirms successful zero reset.
UPGRADED ACCELEROMETER
Faster sampling rates and improved resolution with addition of gyroscope - perfect for those in need of ultra-high-speed data capture.
UPGRADE TO DUAL SIDE - L/R
Ability to upgrade with Stages Power R (drive-side) power meters to Stages Power L/R (dual) meter systems.
INDUSTRY-LEADING ACCURACY = REAL-WORLD RESULTS
Enhanced resolution of strain gauge readings allow for more accuracy in power readings. Every power meter is calibrated and tested to +1.5% accuracy, which is the highest attainable outside strictly-controlled laboratory conditions.
Not only are the new GEN3 meters more accurate when it comes to power measurement, but Stages have also enhanced how and what they communicate. Improved radio antennas mean better range.
