Corima Carbone - 44 Years of quality French innovation

Family owned and operated French Carbon Composite Experts have developed a Worldclass reputation by leading the way in innovation, technology and superior quality Carbon products.

Founded in 1973 by Pierre Martin and Jean-Marie Riffard in Loriol-sur-Drôme in France, the name Corima is taken from COoperation RIffard MArtininitial who’s initial activities were making molds and models for the foundry, automobile and aeronautics sectors. In 1988, Corima diversified into carbon composite parts and its first product for cycling, the high performance composite Disc Wheel. It wasn’t until 1994 that Corima expanded commercially to frames, achieving success with the Puma, an aerodynamic Carbon Monocoque road frame with a steeply sloping top tube based on the custom track frame ridden to a new Hour World Record by British rider Chris Boardman in 1993. Production was discontinued in 1999 due to revised UCI rules that rendered the Puma's geometry inconsistent with racing frame guidelines but Corima continued making a Track Frame with similar geometry and sloping top tube with the Cougar until it was eventually replaced by the more modern VIF frame.

Looking at the modern aerodynamic integrated designs of many brands today it can be seen that Corima were significantly ahead of their time with their early frame molds and designs. Since then Corima have shifted away from frame technology whilst still concentrating on aerodynamic research to constantly try to reduce drag and increase performance via their World Leading Wheelsets. A unique highlight of this research involves optimising friction pressure on the various surfaces of the Wheel and Tyre whilst also working to improve the air flow speed and air flow separators on the wheel to obtain a wheel that requires as little power as possible to move forward and spin.

Corima have designed dozens of prototypes and repeatedly cross-referenced the precise results achieved by various models on their test benches. The best projects are validated with carful wind tunnel testing and the accumulated hours of experience as well the use of the most sophisticated technologies available come together to create the incredible range of Corima Carbon Composite Wheels we see today.

The latest aerodynamic research carried out in Corimas research centre has led to a new rim design called Concept 2D. This new shape improves air flow and increases the rigidity of the tubular rim. Concept 2D, which was first used on the 3 Spoke carbon wheel, positioned as the best suited wheel for Triathlon and Time Trials, has now been carried across the full Corima Wheel range.

Corima’s know how is unique and is well known for the constant innovations and quality that have created a real revolution of the materials and techniques used in all cycling disciplines. Corima control all the steps in the manufacturing process from the design, production, control and after-sales service. Everything is made, assembled and distributed from the Corima plant in Loriol sur Drôme in France with true handmade precision and quality.

In this very competitive market, it is this level of quality and detail, the collaboration with experts and World beating professional athletes and teams and the constant innovation of Corima products that have helped to establish the incredible Worldwide reputation of the brand.
